You can lead a horse to water…

…and eventually he/she may drink after some persistence!

Everyday I keep a bottle of water at my desk right in view, and everyday I tell myself that ‘today is the day I am going to ace this.’ Yet day in and day out, I still struggle to consume the recommended 8 – 12 glasses of water a day.

One would think after being lectured numerous times about the importance and benefits of keeping properly hydrated, that I’d actually get the hint… The media and health professionals are forever reminding us that the number one cause of daytime fatigue, reduced focus and awareness, a lack of concentration, hunger, aches, pains, joint stiffness and whole lot more is inadequate water intake. Hmmn, I wonder if green tea counts?

Recently I decided to have my Aura photographed and read. Sitting there impatiently waiting for the photo film to develop (something like an old school Polaroid pic), I wondered what pretty colours the photo would reveal. To my surprise, my entire aura was a unmistakable vivid red! Peering up from my photo, unable to disguise the disappointed look on my face, I asked the reader to explain. So along with the usual passion, drive and leadership qualities associated with the colour red, I was also told I have a deep connection to the earth, crystals, Hawaii & volcanos. Well I can definitely relate to all of the above; I love crystals, have always had a longing to visit Hawaii and was born on a tiny Volcanic Island called ‘Rodrigues’. Lo and behold, I was also advised that I should drink more water to balance out my fieriness…

So why am I so stubborn? Could it be that I rarely get thirsty so the need to hydrate is not really at the top of my ‘to do list.’ Or could it have something to do with the fact that I am a double Aires (fire sign) and that married with this volcanic connection, may be the very reason I am hesitant to feel ‘extinguished’ or ‘suffocated’ by the opposing element, water (wet and cold). Interesting theory don’t you think? Either way, I know what has to be done and with technology at our fingertips these days, I have some new some inspiration. I have discovered a helpful little iPhone app called ‘Waterlogged’ that actually logs your water intake and motivates you to drink more with a daily tracking feature and reminder. This could be good!

Did you also know that you can use prayerful intent to bless the water and food we put into our bodies? Dr. Masaru Emoto’s fascinating work demonstrates the consequence of negative and destructive thoughts Vs positive and loving thoughts on water. Dr. Emoto found a way to freeze drops of water and using high speed photography, he snapped up shots of the individual water crystals that formed. Dr Emoto discovered that written words, intent, prayer and music all had an effect on the type of water crystals that would form. Negative thoughts would result in ugly or distorted frozen water crystals where positive thoughts, prayer and blessings would form beautiful, perfectly shaped frozen water crystals.

Perfect! I have been led to water and this girl is now ready to drink! Cheers to healthy hydration.

With love, light & laughter,
