So the silly season is done with for another year, you’ve had a blast with your family and friends, welcomed in the New Year with guns blazing and probably even penned down some New Year resolutions. Then reality hits again as the holidays wind down and you head back to work and get back on your daily grind… How many of you have made resolutions that;
(A) You’ve already broken?
(B) Are honestly, so ridiculous and out of your comfort zone that there is no way you can keep them, but will give it a go anyway and then forget about them the following week
Sound familiar? You are not alone my friend!
So what happens if you do fall under those categories? Life is way too short to be down on yourself. So here is what I propose to you: Forget the word ‘resolution’ and focus on the word ‘intention’ instead. Be honest with yourself on what it is you really want, get that clear in your mind, then each day, wake up in the morning and set yourself some day-to-day intentions to move towards your ultimate goal, rather than putting unrealistic pressure and expectation on yourself. This way, should you happen to slip up in a moment of weakness, guess what? Tomorrow is a new day so dust yourself off and get back on track.
Here are some suggested intentions to incorporate into your day-to-day:
Live in the moment
Let go of the ups and downs of 2014 and focus on the good stuff. There is no greater waste of energy that being stuck in the past, reviewing what could’ve been, what you should’ve done differently or being anxious about the future because that takes you away from enjoying the present and fully being present in what is going on around you.
Living in the moment also means being conscious of what you do have and for what you have to give to the world. Remember ‘Gratitude is the Attitude’ and once you this becomes second nature to you, the easier it is to create more of what you want and manifest your desires. Let your light shine!
The F word
‘Fear’ is so 2014. So it’s time to let go of all your fears and make 2015 your year to say “F-Yeah”. When fear gets the better of you, you fall victim to your ego – that negative voice you hear inside your head. Be aware of when that negative chatter starts inside your head, cancel out those thoughts, flip the script and consciously turn those thoughts into a positive. You are in control of your own thoughts.
Apply for that job that you’ve always wanted, get your creative on, write that book you’ve always wanted to, and enrol in that class you’ve been eyeing off but have put off for whatever sucky little reason you’ve settled with. Carpe Diem! These small, positive steps will propel you on your way to fulfilling your life path, to be the best version of yourself that you can be.
Notice the reoccurring patterns and signs that pop up from day to day. They are no coincidence. There are no coincidences, just the universe giving you a little nudge to pay attention to and notice the signs. Honour those intuitive hits that you get and always listen to your gut. What does your body tell you? The body never lies! Call on your spirit guides and guardian angels for some help, all you have to do is ask! Wake up everyday with a smile and be excited to see all the little miracles in your everyday life. They do happen, you just need to be open to seeing them.
Forgive and forget about it!
As they say, ‘there’s no time like the present.’ Release any burdens you are carrying and forgive those who have done wrong by you – I know you’ve heard it a million times but carrying that resentment around with you just opens up the door way to more negativity, repetition of old patterns and plays havoc with your health in the long term. Learn the lesson, accept it and keep it moving.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean you have to approve or condone what that person has done and become best buds with them again, it is about setting yourself free so the situation no longer has control over your thoughts, the way you feel or your behaviour. This includes taking the time to forgive yourself. This could be anything; forgiving yourself for allowing that situation to happen in the first place or for having that piece of chocolate cake you promised yourself you wouldn’t have. Clear your head and make a conscious effort to let go of resentment and worries before you go to sleep at night. Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.
One you banish those dark clouds, you will raise your vibration, feel an immediate shift your emotional energy and make way for a greater level of health and happiness.
